I am mainly interested in the following lines of research, all of them related to the application of computational intelligence to (video)game development:

(1) The automatic design of strategies controlling non-player-characters (NPC).

(2) Design of Emergent and
virtual players (i.e., game AI for bots) that adjust to the (human) player skills (mainly in RTS Games).

Hello. I work in AI, specifically computational chess aesthetics. That's essentially how to get a computer to recognize and evaluate beauty in the game. I have a prototype computer program I developed during my doctoral research called CHESTHETICA that does it for mate-in-3 problems. I'm still actively researching the area; currently focusing on endgame studies and the automatic composing of problems. In addition to being of benefit to human players and composers, it helps us learn more about hu…

I was a Senior Lecturer teaching AI at London Metropolitan University for over 15yrs and authored and delivered AI and Games modules in the recent 5 years. After taking taken voluntary retirement in 2009 I have embarked on an Mphil in AI and Games in order to concentrate on research and creative projects. Working in association with GameLab, London I am investigating how learning can be conceptualised and implemented using light fast algorithms.
